The visual art lesson in Kaurialan school

  Hello, everyone! Yesterday, I attended a visual art subject in Kauriala school.   Students work in a small group.  The lesson was not like a traditional  lesson. Students work in the work shop.A visual art classroom is equipped with good equipments. The teacher uses different kind of books, magazines, digital photos, Painting tablet and computers.  The teacher uses methods such as: project based learning, learning by doing, problem based learning. She lets them to bring their own devices (BYOD). Each group has to create a movie. To create the movie they can choose following  assignments:
·        collect photo (taking photo by using semiprofessional camera) ;
·        draw  or sketch a image on the paper;
·        draw the image in Photoshop, apps and etc.
In my opinion, all methods that used the teacher is good. Piritta does not limit students to  follow exactly way. She just directs them. The teacher gives for each group different themes. I think, this method is suitable for my lesson. Therefore, I want to apply it. Inspite  of freedom students was active.
I think, teacher could motivate students. There are some following reasons:
·        the teacher knows very well her job;
·        the classroom  is equipped in very high level;
·        students can choose this course themselves, it means they are concerned about visual art;
·        She does not limit students to do exactly a task. The teacher teaches by different books. It gives teacher and students a freedom. The atmosphere of group is very free and warm. If they want, students can sit on   the floor. Piritta guides students to find their inspiration.
   I am not a visual art teacher. However, I think I can apply some methods that I mentioned above as a ICT teacher. For instance:  I will give to students learning objectives at the beginning lesson. And then I will propose for students different ways to achieve a final result. I will guide them by feedback.
also, she proposes different themes from a real life. For example: she gives them photos from books, magazines or internet resources, students should to change or modify the photo in their view. I want to emphasize, that as said Piritta before they  was going to create movie by using IPads. However, she said that students prefer to use a school camera. I could not find exact an answer for the question: “why teacher did not achieve goal ?”. I understood that, the teacher gives them freedom, students  do not follow in a strict way.
   In conclusion, I affirm  again, that the success of Finnish Education system is a power of a government system. The government provides students  to find their an inspiration, which will become the motivation and activation in their learning. That’s why the government has the  qualification experts.
